Treat a suspected loose bridge as an inspection issue
If the bridge appears to separate from the guitar’s top, stop using the instrument and seek handling advice. A bridge is part of the loaded structure, so a suspected moving joint deserves a closer look before more playing or adjustment.
A photograph may show a gap but cannot establish the condition of the whole joint, top or internal structure. Do not force paper or tools into the gap to measure it. Send clear images taken from the side and above, and explain whether anything is changing.
A reglue and a replacement are different jobs
A repairer may need to assess the existing bridge, mating surfaces, previous adhesives and the surrounding instrument before proposing a repair. The appropriate work could involve more than sticking an edge back down.
Ask whether the original bridge can remain, whether a replacement is proposed, and what else the inspection found. If matching the original appearance matters, raise that before parts are ordered or finish work is planned.
Why home glue repairs can complicate the job
Applying glue along a visible edge does not tell you what is happening underneath. Household adhesives and poorly planned clamping can leave a repairer with extra material to remove or an instrument that is harder to assess.
Avoid screws, added pressure or heat as a quick fix. If a repair has already been attempted, tell the workshop what product was used and when. Accurate history is more useful than trying to hide the attempt; it can affect the repair plan.
What to include with your photos
Photograph the whole instrument, the bridge from each side, and any visible change around the top. Include the make and model, string type, recent damage and whether the guitar was stored in unusual humidity conditions. Keep a record of what changed and when.
Ask the workshop how to manage the strings and transport the instrument safely before moving it. The right handling depends on what is loose or damaged. For pickup, disclose the concern when arranging collection so it can be handled appropriately.
Discuss the whole repair scope
Ask whether the quote covers bridge work, related structural work, strings, finish attention and a final setup. These are not automatically bundled. If there is other damage, decide what must be addressed for the instrument to return to use.
Favaran’s bridge and bridge-plate service is part of its structural repair work. Send an estimate enquiry before arranging a Davisville & Yonge visit or GTA pickup. Major repairs are quoted after inspection.
